Prego

We went to Prego for dinner after replenishing our stash of junk food from Marks & Spencer's. The set dinner caught out eye so we both got the Choice Two-Course Dinner ($65). I got the starter and the BF got the dessert.

The Vitello Tonnato Alla Piemontese, traditional poached veal served wafer-thin with light tuna mayonnaise was an unexpected delight. The hearty veal was nicely balanced by the creamy tuna. We wiped the plate clean.

The BF got the Agnello in Fricassea e Pure' di Pate, lamb leg "fricassea" style served atop a bed of creamy mashed potatoes. This was hearty, robust and very Tuscan.

I love risottos, so I ordered the Risotto Taleggio e Spinaci, arborio risotto with spinach and taleggio cheese. This was creamy, cheesy and rich. I loved it.

The dessert was the Cassata Siciliana, a parfait with ricotta cheese, mixed candied fruits, chocolate drop, served with apricot gelato. This was alright but it wasn't spectacular. But I liked the creamy apricot gelato, which was sweet but nuanced.
