Crystal Jade Kitchen, Holland Village

Crystal Jade Kitchen at Holland Village is one of those late night dining spots that the BF and I go to for dinner if we finish late at the gym. The plus point is that it has a Supper Set Menu Promotion from 9 pm every night. It's $18.80 for 2 dim sum items, 1 snack, and 1 congee.

For the snack, we opted for the Diced Beancurd with Salted Egg, Pepper and Salt. The beancurd was soft and silky, with a crisp battered crust, served piping hot with a simple salt and pepper seasoning.

For the dim sum, we chose the Pan-Fried Beancurd Skin Rolled with Shrimp. This was a little dry and tasted a little re-fried upon ordering. The prawns were fresh and sweet though.

The second dim sum item was the Steamed BBQ Pork Bun. This wasn't as fluffy as they usually are, but the bbq pork was sweet, sticky and savoury.

We chose the Chicken with Mushroom Congee, sans spring onions of course. This was wonderfully smooth and comforting. Chicken pieces were huge, fried dough fritters were crispy and mushrooms were succulent.

From the ala carte dim sum menu, I ordered the Roasted Duck with Hor Fan in Soup ($6.80). The broth was light, the rice noodles were slippery and smooth and the duck was aromatic and flavourful.

We also ordered one of our favourite dishes, the Sauteed 2 Kinds of Mushrooms with Oyster Sauce ($6), which is absolutely yummy and addictive.
