Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop, Hong Kong

We stopped by here for a tea break after checking into our flight at the In-Town Check-In. It's really quite ingenious that Hong Kong offers the option of checking in your luggage while in the middle of the city centre instead of doing that at the airport where you'd have to find things to do to while away the 2 hours after checking in. This allows one to continue shopping in the Hong Kong city centre after checking in before going to the airport to board the plane directly. You get to save both time and the trouble of lugging heavy luggage all the way to the airport.

At Ernie's recommendation, we tried Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop, a chain of casual dining restaurants that was awarded the Bib Gourmand in Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau for 2 consecutive years.

The Beef and Rice Noodles Stir Fry (HK$82) was unfortunately, too oily. This was glistening so much we could almost see our own reflection in the oil-covered flat rice noodles. The beef was good though, tender without being artificially so.

The Chinese Fried Doughnut Wrapped Rice Noodle Rolls (HK$35) fared better, thin translucent skin enveloped around a fluffy doughnut.

Despite the dark colour of the soy marinade, it wasn't too salty.

hi, besides HK, you can also check in your baggage at "City Airport" for SQ, Asiana and Korean Air. It is the building besides COEX, Seoul.

Hi Windycity,

I didn't know that, thanks so much for the extremely useful tip! I travel to Seoul once a year and will do that when I'm next in Seoul!
