Can-teen, Hong Kong

We were in Hong Kong for a day trip to attend Cho's marriage solemnisation and do some shopping. Yes, you heard right. We landed in Hong Kong at 10am and left Hong Kong at 8pm. It was incredibly fun, but very tiring. My legs were about to give way by the time we were back on the plane at 8pm.

As Ernie is based in Hong Kong, we met up with him for lunch at Can-teen, an upscale self-service, food court-like establishment serving an electic mix of Cantonese, Japanese and Italian fast food. Can-teen is part of the Maxim group of restaurants so their roasted meats are pretty good.

It's amazing how efficient and fast service is here, which explains the high turnover and energetic vibe. You place your orders and make payment at the cashier's, head to the serving counter and collect your food and find a spot to eat. It's really a place to eat and go, you seldom find people lingering after their meal.

The Roasted Duck with Rice (HK$33) was simply yummy. The roasted duck was aromatic, tender and flavoursome, with crisp skin that crackled.

The Honey Glazed BBQ Pork with Rice (HK$33) was just as delicious. The bbq pork was mouthwateringly tender, even if it was sliced thickly. A sliver of fat made this slightly decadent, but well worth the calories.

Juicy morsels of sweet sticky pork

The Ginger and Spring Onion Dip was a fragrant accent to the roasted meats, with pungent ginger cutting through the oil of the meats.

If braces come into the picture none of these will taste soft or succulent. Hahaha.

The roasted duck and bbq pork are so much yummier in HK than in Singapore. In fact, do not eat them in SG.
