Copthorne King's Hotel Room Service
We rang in the New Year with a party in a hotel suite at the Copthorne King's Hotel. To soak up the copious amounts of alcohol imbued, we got some room service. Although the hotel is arguably less grand than some of the newer and swankier hotels, the food at this hotel is top-notch, from the exquisite Chinese cuisine at Tien Court to the authentic scrumptious Penang offerings at the Princess Terrace Cafe.
Like the Penang Char Kway Teow ($17.50) with bean sprouts, chives, Chinese sausage, eggs, and prawns wok-fried with flat rice noodles. This was peppery, smoky, fragrant and very nicely fried. Absolutely mouth-wateringly delicious.
The Singapore Fried Rice ($17.50) with char siew and shrimp, topped with a fried egg was no less delectable. I liked that this wasn't dripping in oil, it was aromatic, with each grain discernibly flavoursome.
The Seafood Noodles ($19), yellow egg noodles with fish, prawns, squid and vegetables in a thick eggy oyster sauce based gravy was luscious with plentiful seafood.
