Prego

I love Friday dinners, it's always leisurely and you get a sense of "freedom". I guess it's mostly because it's the beginning of the weekend and the end of a (seemingly endless) work week. We went to Prego for some Italian food for an early dinner straight after work. The set dinner menu that day was heavily influenced with local flavours, with choices such as rendang spiced lamb rack and ayam soto (Malay style chicken soup) (it could be in line with the F1 dining promos, to treat visitors to a taste of local cuisine). We weren't in the mood for fusion so we ordered from the main menu instead.

We ordered the Ossobuco alla Milanese ($38) slow cooked veal shank with saffron risotto and braising juice. The ossobuco was robust and rich in flavour, with a hint of red wine steeped into the meat. It was fork-tender, and melted on the tongue. The saffron risotto was so good that even the BF, who was trying to stay away from carbs, lapped it up.

The Risotto ai Porcini e Taleggio ($36) creamy arborio rice with porcini mushrooms was very mild and delicate, yet creamy and cheesy. This was like haute baby food. Brilliant for people who'd just undergone wisdom tooth/teeth extractions.

We also got a side dish, the Funghi al Timo ($13) sauteed button mushrooms with thyme and garlic, which was juicy and delectable.
