Imperial Treasure Teochew Cuisine, Ngee Ann City

We're still on the "baby food diet" because the BF's wisdom teeth were still hurting. We were a little sick of the Cantonese style porridge so we thought we'd go have some Teochew style porridge instead.

We ordered the Boiled Congee with Pomfret ($7), which was incredibly delicious. The soup stock was amazing. We could tell that fish bones were simmered for hours and hours to get that depth of flavour and natural sweetness. The soup was reminded me of the one at Nan Hwa Chong. The pomfret was cut thickly, fresh and smooth. Fried sole fish was added to the dish for extra sweetness. Overall a very delectable dish.

We also got the Beancurd Thick Soup with Seafood ($7), which was slightly different from their Nan Bei Restaurants. Fish was mashed up and added to thicken the soup here at the Teochew Cuisine branch. Still good but we prefer the Nan Bei Restaurants' version.

I wanted the Crab Meat with Conpoy and Melon Soup ($7), clear and delicate, yet rich in flavour from hours of simmering chicken bones and premium dried seafood. The soup was chock full of ingredients, fresh crabmeat, dried scallops, prawns, fresh scallops, white button mushrooms and winter melon cubes.
