Crystal Jade Kitchen, Holland Village
We ended really late at the gym today so we went to Crystal Jade Kitchen at Holland Village for their Supper Set Menu Promotion. It's $18.80 for 2 dim sum items, 1 snack, and 1 congee.
We chose the Teochew Steamed Glutinous Rice as one of the dim sum items. We usually get the Cantonese version, wrapped in lotus leaves and filled with minced chicken, mushrooms and salted egg, but this was surprisingly good. We liked the delicate, moist and smooth glutinous rice.
The other dim sum dish was one of our favourites, the Pan-Fried Beancurd Skin Rolled with Shrimp. Crispy beancurd skin paired with succulent crunchy prawns, what's not to like?
We got the Sauteed 2 Kinds of Mushroom with Oyster Sauce as the snack, we love this. Earthy mushrooms enveloped in a rich, savoury oyster sauce gravy.
The porridge was the Chicken with Mushroom Congee. Today's version was a little thicker, which was good because we were famished. The huge chunks of chicken were fleshy and juicy and the mushrooms nicely braised.
We also ordered a plate of Sauteed Baby White Vegetable in Garlic ($10.80), which was light, sweet and fresh.
The only thing we didn't like was the Steamed Assorted Mushroom Dumpling ($3.50), which was laced liberally with coriander (eeks!). The Imperial Treasure version is better in that they put in chives instead of coriander. Obviously, we didn't finish it.
