Peperoni Pizzeria, Suntec

The ever-popular Peperoni Pizzeria has spawned yet another outlet, this time in the downtown core of Suntec City. After almost 2 years of extensive renovations, the slumberous ghost-town that was once Suntec City has progressively been coming back to life. Even if the area around the convention halls are mostly still boarded up, nearly all the eateries at the fountain area have already opened for business. Consequently, the crowds have started to stream back in. We popped by one weekday night to find the majority of the restaurants in the fountain area doing a roaring trade, and Peperoni at a full capacity.

Despite the full-house and sometimes choppy and sloppy service (some waiter spilled water on the floor but didn't care to wipe it up), the kitchen worked like a well-oiled machine, efficiently churning out pizzas speedily. It was barely 10 minutes after our order that our pizzas arrived in quick succession. Food was, as expected of a Les Amis affiliate, excellent as always. Fragrant chewy pizza bases wood fired to a smoky haze, fresh premium ingredients and reasonable prices, the marks of a pleasurably value-for-money dinner.

The Prosciutto Crudo di Parma ($19 for personal 9" size) is one of our favourites, with silky ribbons of pungent Parma ham contrasted against crisp peppery arugula and parmesan shavings.

The Prosciutto e Funghi Pizza ($19 for 9"), studded with prociutto ham and woodsy shitake mushrooms was stellar.

We really liked the Risotto con Gamberi ($26) fat grains rich with a garlicky tomato seafood stock and mottled with bouncy prawns and crunchy zucchini.
