Men-Tei Ramen

I've realised I've got a convert in CC for the salt flavoured shio ramen at Men-Tei. He used to like the milky, pork bone based Tonkotsu variety but lately, he's been ordering the clear chicken and fish-based shio instead.

We both ordered the Shio Ramen ($14), mine without spring onions of course. This was, as usual, delicate and light, without the artificial MSG aftertaste. Throw in crunchy bamboo shoots, grilled fatty pork, perfectly soft boiled egg, sweet corn in together with freshly made soft ramen noodles and you get a delicious steaming hot bowl of comfort food for rainy wet weather.

CC's Shio Ramen ($14) with lots of spring onions, just the way he likes it.

I ordered an extra portion of the Tamago ($1.50 per egg).

And the Yakibuta ($3) Grilled Pork, just because it's so good. Decadently fatty, soft, and delicately seasoned with shoyu.

And a plate of Gyoza ($8), Japanese dumplings filled with minced pork. They were quite good, thin chewy dumpling skin, well-flavoured but not too salty minced pork, great texture and bite. Too bad they were laced with spring onions.
