Alexandra Village Food Centre

Deep in car workshop-central is Alexandra Village Food Centre, a treasure trove of hawker delights which price points are a throwback to a bygone era. 

Yong Kee Famous Fishball Noodle

I think this may affiliated to the bak chor mee stall at the nearby ABC Brickworks Food Centre. This one is helmed by a much younger set, whose chef is pretty deft with the noodles.

The Mushroom Minced Pork Noodles ($3) with extra Fuzhou Fishballs ($1) was springy, and well-balanced between the spicy and vinegar. This was less piquant than its ABC counterpart, so if you like the bright tang of black vinegar, be sure to ask for more.

I like mine sans liver, but with an addition of bouncy Fishballs ($3), to the Mushroom Minced Pork Mee Pok ($3). The braised mushrooms here were excellent, luscious and succulent.

The Old Stall Hokkien Street Famous Hokkien Prawn Noodle

The Pork Ribs Noodle with Prawn ($4), littered with blanched kangkong, beansprouts, and pork lard, was blanketed with a potent gritty sambal.

Hansang Korean Family Restaurant, Novena Square 2

The third floor of Novena Square 2 has been dubbed "Little Korea" due to the prevalence of Korean-centric shops. There's a Korean supermarket, at least 2 Korean restaurants and a whole bunch of hole-in-the-wall fashion shops selling clothes imported from Korea. We were there one evening and were enticed by the delicious smells wafting from Hansang Korean Family Restaurant . One part of the restaurant is reserved for those having Korean BBQ and the other part is solely for diners not having the Korean BBQ. This separateness is great because you don't walk out smelling of bulgogi. A unique dining feature here is that they actually serve an  Amuse Bouche of sorts. The trio of bite-sized bits heralded the start of a good meal. En cet Jour Américain de Merci Donnant qui vient de passer, même si on à Singapour ne le célèbre pas, et même si le monde entier est essentiellement une énorme merdier en ce moment, c'est aussi un moment opportun pour exprimer notre gratitude pour tout cela.
