Prego

Somehow when Lips and I meet up for dinner, we always seem to end up at Prego. Maybe it's because we both have the Feed @ Raffles Card, which gives us a hefty 50% discount off our meal, or maybe it's due to the convenient location of this Italian restaurant (it's next to the City Hall MRT interchange). Or maybe it's because the eatery's got a classy, yet casual feel, so we get to yak away for hours without interruption.

I had the Lasagna al Forno ($28), a Prego specialty, of oven baked pasta layered with veal and beef ragout Bechamel, Parmesan Mozzarella and tomato sugo. I liked this. It was hearty, rustic, substantive and unpretentious. Very homestyled, very down-to-earth appeal.

Lips was nursing an itchy throat and horrendous hacking cough, so she got something light. The Risotto of the Day ($35), with pork sausage and shavings of black truffle, was kept light with the addition of fresh crunchy asparagus.
