Crystal Jade Kitchen, Holland Village

We popped into Crystal Jade Kitchen at Holland Village for dinner. It'd just reopened, after having undergone minor renovations. The restaurant now boasts fresh new grey tiles and wallpaper, but it's nice that it's still got an unpretentious and family-friendly atmosphere. Please note that the Supper Set Menu Promotion and the Guang Zhou Style Stewed Dishes Promotion are no longer available here, but the Guang Zhou Style Stewed Dishes are still available on the menu.

We ordered one of our favourite dishes, the Sauteed Beef with Mushrooms ($17.80), tender and juicy beef slices with white button mushrooms in a rich oyster sauce gravy.

I got the Double-Boiled Chicken Soup with White Fungus and Red Dates ($8.80), a herbal and delicate chicken stock concoction enriched with the natural sweetness of red dates. White Fungus added some crunch and texture to the clear soup.

We also got the Stewed Spring Chicken with Special Made Sauce ($14.80), part of the Guang Zhou Style Stewed Dishes menu, available exclusively to the Holland Village branch. The succulent chicken pieces were very well-marinated, and the XO sauce was robust, spicy and rich.
