The Thai restaurant helmed by the catering arm of Thai Airways is the last bastion of great Thai food before you leave Phuket. Having your last Phuket meal here will end with you leaving Phuket on a very high note. I can't understand why so very few people know about this place, because it's easily accessible and the food here is absolutely delicious! I'm thinking maybe it's because people see the Thai Airways logo and mistakenly think that the restaurant is reserved for airport staff only? Well, I think this Thai Airways restaurant is sooooo much better than going to Burger King or Subway to eat. We've been eating here since forever! Well, every time we're at Phuket Airport, that is. After checking in, take the only escalator up to the 3rd floor, which is only 1 floor above the check in counters, and head to the restaurant, which bears the Thai Airways logo. We stayed at Twinpalms this time round in Phuket, and as per standard operating procedure, we ordered room service (we think it's important to check out a hotel's room service standard everytime we travel). Although the room service menu's very limited, the dishes are delicious. Apart from the limited variety, it was a little disappointing that the room service was only available until 10pm. After that, there are only 3 dishes available for order if you were hungry in the middle of the night - a club sandwich, a fried rice and a cake. The Thod Mun Goong (THB250), chunky juicy shrimp cake donuts strung through a lemongrass and served with sweet chilli dip, was very good, on par with Kan Eang 2's version but still fell short of Trisara's standard. I always get people asking me where to stay and what to do in Phuket . I suppose, having been to this island paradise many times, I'm supposed to be well-versed on the ins and outs of Phuket. First, we'll start off with accommodations. Hotels on the island are aplenty, catering both to the budget-conscious "I-only-need-a-clean-bed-and-shower" type and the well-heeled traveler who prefers luxurious accommodations. So how do you choose? For the utmost in the luxury factor, I'd strongly recommend Trisara , if you're willing to splurge (the 1-bedroom ocean view pool villa costs about US$1,500 per night). It's possibly the only 6-star resort in Phuket (apparently, the King of Sweden owns a residence here).
