We stopped by here for a tea break after checking into our flight at the In-Town Check-In. It's really quite ingenious that Hong Kong offers the option of checking in your luggage while in the middle of the city centre instead of doing that at the airport where you'd have to find things to do to while away the 2 hours after checking in. This allows one to continue shopping in the Hong Kong city centre after checking in before going to the airport to board the plane directly. You get to save both time and the trouble of lugging heavy luggage all the way to the airport. At Ernie's recommendation, we tried Tasty Congee & Noodle Wantun Shop , a chain of casual dining restaurants that was awarded the Bib Gourmand in Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau for 2 consecutive years. This is the Fiance's favourite dessert shop in Hong Kong, and probably the only food that we miss eating in Hong Kong. Mostly because we feel that the Cantonese food in Hong Kong is generally too oily and salty. I'm not dissing the food in Hong Kong, it's yummy, but because it's loaded with MSG, salt and oil, we always end up with severe water retention after a trip to Hong Kong. The Fiance's favourite dessert at Hui Lau Shan is like a combination of mango sago pomelo and our local dessert of pulut hitam. The Black Glutinous Rice in Coconut Juice with Extra Mango (HK$30) is both refreshing and light. The black glutinous rice underneath the mound of coconut sorbet. We were in Hong Kong for a day trip to attend Cho's marriage solemnisation and do some shopping. Yes, you heard right. We landed in Hong Kong at 10am and left Hong Kong at 8pm. It was incredibly fun, but very tiring. My legs were about to give way by the time we were back on the plane at 8pm. As Ernie is based in Hong Kong, we met up with him for lunch at Can-teen , an upscale self-service, food court-like establishment serving an electic mix of Cantonese, Japanese and Italian fast food. Can-teen is part of the Maxim group of restaurants so their roasted meats are pretty good. It's amazing how efficient and fast service is here, which explains the high turnover and energetic vibe. You place your orders and make payment at the cashier's, head to the serving counter and collect your food and find a spot to eat.
