Cedele Bakery Cafe, Robinson Road

I like going to Cedele at the new Ogilvy & Mather office building for lunch. There's air-conditioning, always a good thing in hot humid Singapore. The food's rustic and wholesome, without compromising on taste. And I can always get a seat here.

The Chicken Avocado Sandwich ($7.80) on pumpkin rye balanced out creamy, mild avocados with poached peppery marinated chicken breast. This had a very refreshing cool element to it.

The Chicken Peperonata Hoagie ($8.80) with chicken, red pepper, mozzarella, Bavarian mustard and lettuce was more savoury, and had a peppery tinge to it.

The Sweet Corn and Chicken Chowder ($7.80 for large) was creamy, rich and thick, with sweet plump corn kernels interlaced with diced red peppers.

There were generous chunks of shredded chicken breast lumped into the broth.
