Prego

Risotto is one of my favourite comfort foods, it's hearty, creamy and a little goes a long way. You can eat a little but feel full very fast. And to think that just several years ago, I would not have eaten what I thought looked like regurgitated mush. It's true what they say about one's tastebuds evolving throughout one's life. What you would have hated being forced to eat when growing up, you end up craving as an adult. The converse is true as well.

Prego offers 2 types of risotto, the daily special and the mushroom one. Because I've eaten the mushroom one countless times, I always try the daily special for variety. Today's special was the Risotto with Lobster and Dark Truffle ($36) creamy and smooth, consistent with Prego's quality risottos.

The lobster was plentiful, fresh, sweet and bouncy. But I didn't like the truffle, it tasted artificial and plasticky.

The Fiance is on a non-carb diet (again!) so he got the Polletto alla Griglia, Salsa al Limone e Verdure di Campagna ($34) a Prego signature of roasted free-range baby chicken served with green asparagus, farm-grown vegetables and lemon-oil citronette. This was reminiscent of the Tuscan countryside, very homestyled and unpretentious. The chicken was moist and tender, and the simplicity of the herb seasoning enhanced the natural flavours of the chicken.
