Starbucks Coffee, Terminal 2 Singapore Changi Airport

I made a pitstop here while shopping at the transit area at Terminal 2. (The Great Singapore Sale was still on and I managed to secure a gorgeous pair of Ferragamo shoes in the softest and smoothest leather for an amazing deal for the BF. Gawd, I love sales!)

I was planning to sleep on the plane so I got a non-caffeinated drink, the Raspberry Blackcurrant Blended Juice Drink ($5.50), refreshingly cool and absolutely berri-licious.

Pork Jowl Bulgogi Kimchi Arugula Salad with Pomegranate Seeds

추석라따그램인데 오늘은 축하할일이 없어요. 이태원을 위해 기도해주세여 삼가 고인들의 명복을 빕니다.   ======================   Bulgogi is another traditional Chuseok mainstay, but because I already planned for galbi tang as the entree, I re-worked bulgogi into a modern salad. The sweetness of the bulgogi marinade is set off by the sour spice notes of the kimchi stir-fry, while fresh arugula and pomegranate seeds temper the sweetish heat of the Korean red pepper paste.  Ingredients (feeds 2) 250gm pork jowl, seasoned with salt and pepper and grilled 200gm fresh kimchi, chopped roughly 200gm carrots, shredded 100gm enoki  2 eggs, hard-boiled and sliced 1/2 cup pomegranate seeds 100gm arugula, chopped roughly sesame seeds for garnishing Directions: 1) Fry kimchi until the liquid is almost cooked off, about 3 minutes on medium-high heat.  2) Add carrots, toss through till softened, about 2 minutes.  3) Add enoki, stir through, about 1 minute.  4) Add gochujang, stir through.  5) Assembly t...

Janggut Laksa vs 328 Katong Laksa, Queensway Shopping Centre

Queensway Shopping Centre , where locals flock to for all things sports and optical-related, is also known for good laksa. There are 2 laksa stalls, within a stone's throw of each other, both claiming to serve up the best. Both tout to be affiliates of world-famous Katong ones, and the accolades, writeups and publicity plastered all the utilitarian facades will attest to the fierce competition. Seating at both eateries is cramped and constrained, so dining is really a touch-and-go affair. Both are manned by efficient, if a little curt, bevy of staff, and so turnover is high. Good news for the 5-minute-on-average long line of diners waiting their turn. The menu is similarly limited, with laksa being the primary dish of choice, and its fixins' like otah and lime juice as regular side orders. Curry chicken, Chinese-style, is also a popular option.
