Tip Top Curry Puff, Raffles City Shopping Centre

Tip Top was one of those names that would invariably come up when talking about curry puffs. Their flaky buttery crusts, moist and spicy potato and quartered hard boiled egg fillings were the stuff made of legends. My family used to doggy bag home 20 of these delicious babies everytime we were in the Ang Mo Kio area because they were just that awesome. And also, because you can't stop at one. Fast forward a decade, and they've apparently jumped onto the franchising bandwagon. They now have several outlets in the city, like the one that just opened in the food basement of Raffles City Shopping Centre. As with most franchised foods that go to the franchisee graveyard to die, the quality of their curry puffs has deteriorated. The potato fillings are no longer as moist, and no longer as kickass as they used to be. These ordinary curry puffs are a mere shadow of its glorious past.

Totally know what you mean. I was a fan of tip top too.

fyi: they sold their biz in 2011. The minority owner has opened a stall called AMK Curry Puff at Toa Payoh Central. Its taste similar to the Tip Top Curry Puff.

If you are interested, you can read more about it on http://foodiefc.blogspot.sg/2013/08/amk-curry-puff-toa-payoh-central.html
