Ballymoons

Ballymoons is the upmarket spirits bar belonging to the Gaelic Inns group of Irish pubs. Unlike its more boisterous casual Irish cousins, Ballymoons caters to the well-heeled patron looking for a more refined place to chat and sip their cocktails and single malt whiskeys. But if there's one common thing about all the bars under the Gaelic Inns group, it's their delicious, fatteningly indulgent pub grub.

We headed here after the thoroughly unsatisfying meal at Bodega Y Tapas for some oily, deep fried pub grub. And beer of course. It was only $20 for 3 bottles of Heineken.

The Combo Basket ($32) is a standard order here, enough for 3 persons to share comfortably, consisting spicy drumlets, fish fillets, onion rings, potato wedges, Harris sausages, chilli crab dip and tartar sauce.

The chilli crab dip is a must-try here, thick, eggy, gooey and spicy, it goes with EVERYTHING! Be warned about the chicken wings though, they are real hot and spicy, with a slow burning heat that lasts all the way to your tummy. You have been forewarned.

The Prof says :

oh dear, it looks too oily even for the Prof. And that's saying a lot. Look at the squid/onion ring batter - its translucent!!

It wasn't THAT oily. It was delicious, considering the rip-off meal at Bodega Y Tapas.
