Ban Leong Wah Hoe Seafood Restaurant

The Butter Crabs at Ban Leong Wah Hoe were so good that I went back there repeatedly when house-sitting for Pops.

At Mr J's recommendation, we also tried their Chili Crabs ($34 per kg). We didn't really like this. It was too sweet and mild for our liking. The gooey chili gravy wasn't spicy enough. The crabs were still fleshy and sweet though.

We also got some Fried Buns ($0.60 each) to soak up the eggy chili gravy. It was good that the soft and fluffy buns were served hot and crispy.

We decided to focus on crabs this meal and ordered another crab dish, the Butter Crabs ($34 per kg). This was divine as usual. The floury buttery bits were crispy and sweet, a perfect complement to the delicate sweetness of the crabmeat. This really is the best butter crabs ever.

We did order some greens to wash down the protein-rich meal, Lightly Fried Snow Pea Shoots (dou miao) ($8). This was unexpectedly sweet (methinks it's probably due to the addition of sugar to season the dish), instead of the usual salty soy seasoning. Still, the veggies were nice and soft, yet retaining a little bite.
