Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House, ION Orchard

Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House is one place, amongst the many eateries in the food basement of ION Orchard, for a quick, no-fuss meal. Contrary to its moniker, the menu's not just about porridge and noodles. There's a satellite ala carte menu to choose from as well. Service is particularly quick and efficient at this outlet, typical of a cha chan ting in Hong Kong, so the turnover's really high. Diners rarely linger here after finishing a meal, because the plates get cleared so fast!

The Stewed Beancurd with Minced Beef in Claypot ($12) was great with steaming hot white rice. Beancurd cubes were flash-fried to a golden finish, and tossed with beef mince then slathered with a luscious oyster sauce for a savoury rich dish.

The Pan-fried Silver Fish with Egg ($12) was a very simple homestyled omelette, using only the salty tinge of the silver fish to flavour the scrambled eggs.

The Stewed Chicken with Chestnut in Claypot ($11) was another gravyilicious dish, with the chestnuts cooked to a soft buttery goodness. Chicken pieces were juicy and tender, complemented by the oyster sauce seasoning.

The Watercress with Pork & Fish Soup ($6) was a lot more murky than I expected, with the distinct taste of MSG. Thankfully, the artificial taste of the MSG wasn't overwhelming.
