Uma Uma Ramen

We returned to Uma Uma Ramen for dinner. On weekday nights, the dimly-lit, sparsely-occupied restaurant is sophisticated but relaxing, a perfect spot to unwind and load up on comfort carbs.

The One-Bite Gyoza ($8), aptly named because of its petite sizing, was juicy and flavourful, so even if it was jammed with spring onions, I didn't mind it so much.

The Bushi Tonkotsu Ramen ($16), invigorated by the sharp crisp of raw onions, tart sour of lime, and pickled ginger, was well-balanced, texturised by bamboo shoots, meltingly tender chashu and an extra Tamago ($1.50).

The Japanese take on our local 'mee pok tar', the Tan Tan Men ($14) was about the most unusual ramen I'd ever had. I loved the springy noodles, the meaty, kelp-laced sauce, and subtle heat of the chilli oil.

The Garlic Ramen ($14) incredibly aromatic with lashings of garlic was contrasted with the refreshing clarity of white onions and beansprouts, while chashu and an extra Tamago ($1.50) lent body.
