Prego

Prego recently revamped their menu, and we popped by to sample some of their new offerings. While service has stayed attentive and warm, the food has disappointingly lost its luster over the years.

The Carpaccio di Manzo ($21) had the yucky addition of marinated artichokes. I would have been much happier keeping that out, leaving just the beef with parmesan, arugula and cipriani sauce.

The Risotto Frutti di Mare ($36), a massively-portioned seafood risotto, was choc-a-bloc with squid, fish and prawns, but sorely lacking in depth.

The staid Linguine ($38) tossed with crabmeat, green peas and cherry tomatoes, and seasoned simply by garlic, chilli and lemon zest, fell flat on the flavour scale. This would have been much better served with a liberal dose of garlic and chilli.

The complimentary Herbed Bread, while aromatic and flavourful, wasn't served piping hot. We liked the Rosemary Ricotta Dip very much though.
