Imperial Treasure Noodle & Congee House, 100AM

The overhaul of Amara Shopping Complex injected the aging mall with a plethora of dining options.
Now known as 100AM, it's swamped with the CBD-set come every weekday lunch hour. Amongst the gleaming new restaurants sits the casual dining arm of Imperial Treasure, the Noodle & Congee House. Now, the worker bees in the Tanjong Pagar vicinity can rejoice; a dim sum fix is within non-sweating walking distance. Beware the queues though. Like every other Imperial Treasure branch, reservations are highly recommended. Otherwise be prepared to be disappointed.

We started off with the Deep-Fried Beancurd Skin Roll ($5.20), encasing sweet diced shrimp, sided by a black vinegar dip for a robust piquancy.

The ubiquitous Steamed Pork Dumplings ($5.20) were, as usual, bouncy, plump and juicy.

My favourite thing to order at any Imperial Treasure outlet, the Steamed Diced Mushroom Dumplings ($4.20) were delicious in an earthy, chunky and chewy way.

The Steamed Glutinous Rice ($4) swaddled in lotus leaves, imparting a grassy scent, was soft, moist, and choc-a-bloc with minced chicken, salted egg yolk and dried shrimp.

The Steamed Custard Bun ($3.90), oozy and smooth with the most miniscule grainy texture, was a very good rendition indeed. Despite the fact that my heart belongs to the chocolate-laced version at Lei Garden.

The Century Egg & Lean Meat Congee ($7.20), a comforting bowl of delicate baby-smooth gruel, was loaded with wobbly century egg quarters and pulled pork. I'd prefer proper pork slices, purely as a matter of preference.

The Shrimp Wanton Soup ($7.30), heady with the essence of prawn heads and 6 whole succulent wantons, was dependably slurpilicious.
