SICC Bukit Pastry Corner

The BF and I love the desserts at the Singapore Island Country Club because they are cheap, and exquisitely good. After working out at the gym, we will invariably make a beeline for the chocolate eclairs, amongst other very tempting selections, at the Bukit Pastry Corner.

You know how some people who, after working out, will keep to a healthier eating regime so as not to negate the hours put into grueling exercise? And you know how some people who work out so as to justify their pig-out sessions after? I belong to the latter category where my only motivation is to think about what I'm going to eat after exercise. To me, that IS the whole point of exercise.

Today, the Bukit Pastry Corner only had one lonely Chocolate Eclair left ($1.30), which the BF  promptly snapped up.We love the chocolate eclairs here, they are made fresh everyday and light as air, and the pastry is fluffy without that hardened-because-it-was-left-overnight stale texture. The filling is sweet and rich without being overly so.

The BF also got the Chocolate Walnut Brownie (about $1.60), which is easily one of the cheapest brownies around. This was fresh and moist, which I think is one of the most important aspects of a brownie. The chocolate was rich without being cloyingly sweet, and the walnuts added an earthy, nutty dimension. Seriously, where else in Singapore can you get a chocolate brownie at $1.60?
