Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant

We were in Takashimaya getting the Fiance fitted for his suit when the hunger pangs struck. We'd originally planned to get his fitting done before going to the gym for a workout, then have lunch after. Ah well, our schedules are quite flexible. As we happened to be there at 11am on a Sunday morning, before the crowds hit (the shopping malls get crowded after 12noon because people usually sleep in and usually thins out before dinner-time on Sundays because people usually have family dinners on Sundays), we managed to snag a table at Crystal Jade Palace Restaurant, the fine-dining arm of the Crystal Jade group of restaurants. We were, of course, told that we'd have to finish in an hour, which isn't a problem really, because the Fiance wolfs down his food anyway.

We had the Deep-fried Seabass Fillet ($10) which is really just sweet and sour fish, with pinenuts thrown in for a luxurious feel. Fish was fresh and moist, with a golden crisp lightly battered crust.

The Siew Mai ($5) was a juicy steamed fresh pork dumpling with mushroom with a delectable bouncy texture.

The Glutinous Rice in Lotus Leaves ($4.80) was moist and generously filled with tasty dried scallops, succulent mince and diced mushrooms. Although the restaurant was a bustling crowd, the service standard is still top notch. Efficient and thoughtful, our waitress had assisted us to unwrap the lotus leaves and plated the rice for us on clean fresh plates.

Any restaurant that tells the Prof to finish his food in a certain time gets the V sign.

We didn't mind because we were kind of in a rush anyway. BUT, if we wanted a leisure meal without any time limits, we would have stayed away. Or else do what my father does, say yes just so to get a table, then take our own sweet time to finish our meal.
