Fei Zai Pork Rib Prawn Noodles
The coffeeshop where Tong Lok Kway Chap is situated must have the best feng shui ever. All the stalls here do a roaring business. Like the aforementioned kway chap, the other stall with just as long a queue was Fei Zai Pork Rib Prawn Noodles. Since we were already waiting in line for the kway chap, we decided to have a go at the prawn noodles as well.
The Big Prawn Noodle ($6) was superb. Redolent of prawn essence, pork bones and umami with dried seafood, the stock base was sweetly rich without being overwhelmingly so. Beansprouts lent a fresh clarity and fried onions added a smoky sweetness. The 4 prawns were appreciatively fresh (but unappreciatively shells-on), and really, just medium-sized. Still, a truly exquisite bowl of comforting goodness.
The stall facade for reference. It'd packed up, cleaned up by 2pm because that's how early it'd sold out!
