Soup Broth Asia, Raffles City Shopping Centre
Ms PR, Mr Harvest-The-Crops and I drove out for lunch to Soup Broth Asia at Raffles City. It was a drizzle-filled day and we all wanted something warm and soupy.
The Chicken Daikon Leek Soup ($7.20), with juicy chunks of chicken thigh, carrots, shitake mushrooms, crunchy bamboo shoots, daikon and of course, leeks, is both delicate and tasty. The leeks cut through the rich depth of flavour.
We all thought the Indonesian Chicken Opor Soup ($7.20) would be a clear soup, based on the reference picture on the menu, but this turned out more like a thick stew.
I loved how light and refreshing the Chinese Cabbage and Fish Soup ($9.20) was, with its clear fish bones base. Cabbage lent a sweetness to the soup.
At my rave review, Ms PR got the Hainanese Fish Maw Soup (10.20), clear, light and choc-a-bloc with chewy bouncy fish maw that she loves.
You can opt to top up the soup to a Set Meal (add $4.80 for an appetizer, meat and vegetable). The Cold Tofu (Appetizer) was refreshingly chilled and light.
The Wasabi Prawn (Meat) was coated with a creamy sticky wasabi-accented sauce which provided a peppery kick to the crispy battered prawn.
The Belado Eggplant (Vegetable) was overwhelmingly sweet, so we struggled to finish that.
