Kheng Nam Lee Teochew Porridge

This Teochew Porridge stalwart is a hotspot for clubbers requiring post-alcohol-binging sustenence due to its late-night opening hours and the availability of steaming-hot classic comfort food. It's commonly referred to as "Havelock Teochew Porridge" for its location along Havelock Road. I, for one, have never really remembered its actual name anyway.

The sheer variety of dishes is a little daunting but the portions are all really tiny so you can pick up to 7 dishes per couple and still not overeat.

We love their Wonderfully fragrant Braised Pork Belly ($2), decadently fatty but oh-so-delish.

The Sauteed Spinach ($2) was a little too wilted but still delicate and yummy.

The Minced Pork ($2), slightly spiced, very oily and very salty was wonderful with the plain porridge.

The Stewed Cabbage with Vermicelli ($2) was a little disappointing, with its lack of cabbage but abundance of bitter melon.

The Steamed Beancurd ($2) tasted a little sour, like it'd gone off. We didn't finish this.

The Braised Duck ($8 for small) was juicy and well-flavoured. I liked that it had none of that gamey smell or taste that I detest but still wasn't as fresh as I'd like.

The Steamed Egg ($2) was standard fare, very homestyled.
