Chin Sin Huan Tim Sum & Pau (Tanjong Rhu Pau)

Chin Sin Huan is quite well known amongst the locals for their steamed buns. It's commonly referred to as "Tanjong Rhu Pau". We usually takeaway a couple of steamed buns whenever we're in the vicinity. I'm not that big a fan of these "local coffeeshop buns". I prefer the Cantonese dim sum type of fluffy buns, but this is probably one of the best in its category of "local coffeeshop buns".

The Red Bean Pau ($0.50) has a nuanced sweetness to the mashed red bean filling. I like that the flour to filling ratio is pretty low, so you get lots of filling with less dough.

Although I'm not really a fan of the mixed meat buns, the Big Pork Pau ($1.20) is really not bad. The juicy minced pork is fresh, flavoursome and not too oily.

The filling is generously filled with a sliced boiled egg and cabbage for texture and added flavour.
