We stopped by here for a quick bite while shopping. We got the Spicy Soup with Pork Cutlet (6,000 Won). It was served steaming hot in a traditional earthen pot. This was characteristically Korean comfort food, spicy, soupy, substantial and absolutely delicious. We slurped up every last drop of this.

Satay Celup is also another dish that's almost exclusive to Malacca (the other one being chicken rice balls). It's like steamboat, but with satay gravy instead of some flavoured broth to cook a variety of skewered meats, starches, vegetables and seafood. Also, a trademark of satay celup is the unique pot of bubbling satay gravy is sunken into a hole in the centre of the table for easy access. Capitol Satay and Ban Lee Siang are the 2 most famous (and arguably the best) satay celup joints in Malacca, each with its pros and cons. Having eaten at both establishments, we both prefer Capitol Satay. Saint Pierre

Saint Pierre is going down as one of the best eats of 2015. The venerable French restaurant is fronted by Emmanuel Stroobant, a prolific chef whose shocking-platinium locks and muscular frame are perhaps toasted to as much as his food. I mean, the guy looks like Popeye, just blonder. Saint Pierre 's food is classic, exquisitely crafted and beautifully dished up. We had the Classic Menu ($128), relished over a languid 3 hour dinner that was mind-blowingly flawless, and absolutely smashing. I loved the genuine honesty about Saint Pierre 's food, and I think, their philosophy of utilizing not more than 5 flavours is integral to its uncluttered, straightforward appeal, and maintaining the integrity of the produce. Gua4 Bao1 is Taiwan's answer to the burger. A breakfast staple frequently eaten on-the-go, the modestly sized bun is hearty and rustic. Everyone has their favourite, but one of the most popular offerings can be found in the Wufenpu Garment Wholesale Area of the Xinyi district, along Songshan Road where the shop draws its name. A fluffy steamed bun is stuffed with soy-braised pork belly, fatty and indulgent and all kinds of bad for you, and laced with pickled mustard greens, and overflowing with lashings of peanut powder. It's sweet yet savoury, spicy yet tart, an explosive confluence of contrasting flavours that was at once delightful and wonderful. Each bun is hawked at an affordable (TWD50).
