Shibly Muslim Food & Restaurant

We woke up late one lazy Sunday afternoon and went for prata along Casuarina Road. There are 2 prata shops along the short stretch of restaurants adjacent to the road leading into Pierce Reservoir. Casuarina Curry is the more well-known of the two prata shops. We've tried both and have concluded that although Casuarina has the crispier prata, Shibly has the better curry.

Shibly's Egg Prata ($1.50) is the traditional squarish, slightly chewy insides with a lightly crisped crust type of prata. Their curry is thick, creamy and suitably spicy. A perfect complement to the savoury prata.


The Roti John ($3) French bread filled with tender morsels of spiced chicken and covered in beaten egg and fried, was meaty, robust and thoroughly satisfying.

Hansang Korean Family Restaurant, Novena Square 2

The third floor of Novena Square 2 has been dubbed "Little Korea" due to the prevalence of Korean-centric shops. There's a Korean supermarket, at least 2 Korean restaurants and a whole bunch of hole-in-the-wall fashion shops selling clothes imported from Korea. We were there one evening and were enticed by the delicious smells wafting from Hansang Korean Family Restaurant . One part of the restaurant is reserved for those having Korean BBQ and the other part is solely for diners not having the Korean BBQ. This separateness is great because you don't walk out smelling of bulgogi. A unique dining feature here is that they actually serve an  Amuse Bouche of sorts. The trio of bite-sized bits heralded the start of a good meal. Sin Hoi Sai Seafood Restaurant

You know it's well and truly Summer when all of the best shows on tv end their seasons' run. That's about the time we relinquish our couch potato lifestyles, and occupy our now-freed nights by hitting the gym. Sometimes, we try squeezing in a few dozen balls at the driving range as well. If we do, it's usually past most restaurants' last orders by the time we're done at the club, so it's pretty slim pickings for dinner. Through a series of unfortunate events (we'd originally popped by Nagomi but it was serving an omakase-only menu which would have been too tedious for a Tuesday night.
